Lennis J. Holm, 66, of Los Angeles, Calif., died June 24, 2002, of heart failure in Reno, Nev.

Services were held Saturday, June 29, in Los Angeles. The body was cremated.

A native Iowan, Lennis Holm spent his early life in Duncombe and Eagle Grove. He farmed with his father in the Winterset area before attending the University of Iowa at age 28, where he earned a B.A. degree and graduated with honors as a Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to earn his J.D. degree and Jurisprudential Excellence Award in 1974 from Georgetown University in Washington. D.C., while serving as a U.S. Capitol police officer. Returning to Iowa, he practiced law, raised a family in Creston and was active in the Democratic Party. After moving to California in 1987, Lennis became licensed as an immigration attorney, a certified business law professor, as well as a real estate and mortage broker in California and Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Bernice Holm, and his first wife, Julianne Hughes.

He is survived by his second wife, Maria Pablico-Holm of Los Angeles; twin daughters, Jacqueline Holm-Smith of Ankeny and Jennifer Cooper of Winterset; a son, Hans Christian of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Lois Thul (his twin) of Eagle Grove and Linda Petty of Fallbrook, Calif.

A Lennis J. Holm Scholarship Fund will be established at the University of Iowa.
