Owen Kale of Winterset died last Friday, Oct. 20, 1961, at University hospital in Iowa City. He had been in failing health for several months.
Mr. Kale was 84 years of age at his death, and was a lifetime resident of Madison county. He was born here Aug. 22, 1877, a son of Joseph Kale and Sarah Wheeler.
During his active life he worked as a carpenter, and as a lineman for the Northwestern Bell Telephone company. He helped to build the first telephone lines from Greenfield to Winterset and from Winterset to Knoxville.
He was a member of the Christian church.
Mr. Kale never married, and his nearest surviving relatives are three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Starr of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Wilda Lucas of Winterset, and Mrs. Edith Gates of Anaheim, Calif.
Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. this Wednesday, from the Collins Funeral home in charge of the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
