Funeral At Truro For W. A. SAWHILL

Funeral services for william A. Sawhill, a long-time resident of the Truro community, were held last Thursday afternoon, Dec. 24, from the Kale Funeral home in Truro.

Mr. Sawhill died Dec. 22, 1970, at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola. He was 85 years of age.

A son of Neely A. and Martha Weaver Sawhill, he was born in Illinois on April 9, 1885. He came to the Truro area early in life, and continued to live there until his death.

He was married to Ethel Mary Travis on Jan. 1, 1907. He was a member of the Methodist church, Ivy Lodge A.F. and A.M., and Woodsmen of America.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1954, a sister, Lena, and a brother, Ben.

Surviving are four daughters and a son, Mrs. Bernice Phillips of Peru, Mrs. Mildred Schultz of Truro, Verle Sawhill of Truro, Mrs. Vesta Batten of Des Moines and Mrs. Ardis Whitfield of St. Louis, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; three sisters, Maggie Beaton of St. Joseph, Mo., Reba Wolf of Denver, Colo., and Zella Yents of Vona, Colorado; and two brothers, A. E. Sawhill of Des Moines, and A. L. Sawhill of Sand Point, Idaho.

Officiating at the funeral last Thursday was the Rev. Richard Hempenius. Burial was in Ebenezer cemetery.
