Funeral services for George E. Pinckney, a life-long resident of the Macksburg community, will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Macksburg Baptist church.
Mr. Pinckney died Monday night, June 14, 1954, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 76 years of age.
The son of Joseph and Mary Pinckney, pioneer Madison county residents, he was born Jan. 25, 1878 on a farm northeast of Macksburg in Grand River township. He continued to live on this farm his entire life.
In 1904 he was married to Grace Simmons, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Surviving are six children, Mrs. Fern Lawless, Frank Pinckney and Ralph Pinckney, all of Macksburg; Mrs. Blanche Reichardt of Walled Lake, Mich.; Mrs. Myrtle Mosby of Afton, and Leonard Pinckney of Winterset; 19 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Officiating at the funeral services Thursday afternoon will be the Rev. U. E. Burroughs of Ottumwa, Ia. Burial will be in Moon cemetery south of Macksburg.
