Martha Holliday, Winterset

Services for Martha Holliday, 83, Winterset, who died Sept. 10 at Winterset Care Center North where she resided, were held at the First United Presbyterian Church in Greenfield on Sept. 13 with the Rev. Wayne Norris officiating. Burial was at the Greenfield Cemetery.

Born Feb. 4, 1905 in Knox County, Ill., she was the daughter of Wendelin and Clara Hambsch Baier.

She joined the Presbyterian Church in 1917 and attended Greenfield schools and graduated in 1924. She taught school one year. On Feb. 17, 1926, she was married to Ray Holliday and they were parents of two boys.

She was a member of Eastern Star and various clubs.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Wendel and wife Janet of Greenfield, and Phil and wife Thelma of Winterset; brothers, Winn Baier and Ralph Baier and wife Carey, all of Greenfield; Stuart Baier and wife Roslyn of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
