Marvin Ross Moore, died of heart failure Sunday March 7, 2004 at Gold Canyon, Arizona at the age of 76 years 5 months and 11 days.Marvin was born September 25, 1927 at home in Jackson Township, Madison County. He farmed on the home farm, owned a Hi-Way Standard Service in DeSoto, and retired from Earlham Community school as head grounds and maintenance.
Marvin was a long time member of the Pitzer Presbyterian Church, serving as Trustee and Elder. Later years he was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Earlham. He served as a Jackson Township Trustee, 4-H leader and was a member of the Earlham American Legion. He was a fan of all sports and especially enjoyed attending games of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an enthusiastic Hawkeye fan and avid golfer, especially enjoying comradeship of fellow golfers, both young and old.
Marvin was married to Carolyn York December 7, 1947 at her parental home near Earlham. To this union two children were born, Philip and Susan.
Marvin is survived by his wife Carolyn of Earlham; son Philip (Janice) of rural Earlham; and daughter Susan Moore of O’Fallon, Missouri, two grandsons Shawn (Tonya) and great-grandchildren Kolby and Kenadi Moore of Indianola; Mark (Marnie) and great-grandson Garrett Moore of Earlham, sister Marilyn Hines (Bill) of Jarales New Mexico; sister Charlotte Moore of Sunnyvale, California, many nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents J. Ross and Edna Moore and an infant brother Donald. Memorials may be directed the family.Note: Earlham Cemetery, Earlham, Iowa
