ADOLPH WM. JOHN JOBST

Adolph William John Jobst the oldest of nine children of the Rev. Carl Jobst and Katherine nee Dorr, was born at Deer Park, Wisconsin, on April 8, 1889. He was baptized on April 19, 1889 by his father. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Clarinda, Iowa, on March 23, 1902.

He was united in marriage with Ida Scar of Dexter on January 14, 1914. To this union three children were born. They engaged in farming in Madison county until 1951 when they moved to Dexter. During the many years of membership in Zion Lutheran Church he rendered faithful services as a Sunday school teacher and elder.

After a lingering illness, Mr. Jobst departed this life at the Dexter Clinic Hospital on Friday, July 26, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 18 days. He is survived by his widow, one son, Carl of Earlham, and two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Ilah) Mueller of Anita, and Mrs. Marvin (Ruth) Wedemeyer of Adair, four grandchildren, one brother, Bert of Dexter, and three sisters, Mrs. Clara Gray of Marcus, Iowa; Mrs. Lucy Roberts of Tecumseh, Nebraska; and Mrs. Esther Ziegler of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Funeral services were conducted at Zion Lutheran church, Dexter, on Monday, July 29 with the Rev. Norman M. Luecht in charge. Interment was in the Penn Center cemetery. Casket bearers were nephews of the deceased; Harold Jobst, Marvin Jobst, Alvin Scar, Leonard Scar, Norman Scar and Paul Willrich.
