Mildred Pauline Brooks, 84, of Onekama, Mich., died July 20, 2006.

Services were held Tuesday, July 24, at the First Congregational Church in Onekama.

Pauline Brooks was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Winterset to Earl and Lottie Mae Farlow. On April 20, 1942, she married Wendell Stanton Brooks Jr. in Hawthorne, Calif. At age 54, she received her nursing degree from West Shore Community College. Pauline practiced her profession at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility for one year, followed by 15 years in the office of Dr. Daniel Joseph.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Myers Farlow; a sister, Iva Gollan; and a grandson, Peter Brooks.

She is survived by her husband, Wendell, of Onekama, Mich.; two sons, Wendell Brooks of Dunedin, Fla., and Gary Brooks of Ballwin, Mo.; three daughters, Gail Verplank of Tucson, Ariz., Bonnie Garbrecht of Battle Creek, Mich., and Elizabeth Walter of Mandeville, La.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Onekama Township First Response Team or the Onekama Guild Thrift Shop.

Arrangements were handled by Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva, Mich.
