DOROTHY E. VOWELL, rural Peru

Services for Dorothy E. Vowell, 75, rural Peru, who died March 28, 1989 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Thursday, March 30, at the Peru United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ann Louise Weisenfluh officiating. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.

Born in Guthrie County on Aug. 19, 1913, she was the daughter of Jacob and Edith Reynolds Burkhardt. She was a housewife and retired secretary and was married to Harrison S. Vowell on May 21, 1939 at Rockport, Mo.

Mrs. Vowell had been a resident of the Peru area for the past 41 years and was a member of the Peru United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Larry of Winterset; daughters, Marilyn Spencer of Peru and Mildred Agan of Winterset; brothers, Kenneth Burkhardt of Bagley, and Victor and Lawrence Burkhardt, both of Guthrie Center, a sister, Leona Burkhardt of Guthrie Center; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandchild, a brother and a sister.
