Services for Viola Florence Holland, 75, St. Charles, who died Oct. 12 at home were held Saturday, Oct. 15 at the St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Tom Webster of St. Charles officiating. Burial was at the St. Charles Cemetery.
Born in Ames on July 19, 1913, she was the daughter of John and Effie Day Tanner. She graduated from Iowa State in 1933 and was married to Burness A. Holland on Nov. 25, 1939 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. She lived in St. Charles for 26 years and had worked for Look magazine and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
She was a member of the St. Charles Parish Church.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Marilyn Pottorff of St. Charles; a son, James Holland of Las Cruces, N.M.; and seven grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers.
