MRS. WILLIE MAUDE VINSEL, Louisville, Ky.

Mrs. Willie Maude Vinsel, a former Winterset resident who became a prominent civic leader in Louisville, Ky., died Nov. 9 at the Episcopal Church Home there.

She was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. E. F. Powell, long-time Winterset residents. Her husband was at one time a coach in the Winterset schools.

Mrs. Vinsel was the former president of both the Louisville and Kentucky Leagues of Women Voters. She was head of the foreign trade section of the Louisville district office of the U.S. Department of Commerce from 1947 to 1951.

She helped organize the Louisville International Center and the Louisville Panbellenic Society. She served on the board of the old Children's Hospital for eight years and on the board of the Woman's Club of Louisville for six years.

She was a member of the John Marshall Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, the Kentucky Historical Society and the Asssociation of the Louisville Symphony Orchestra.

She was also a member of the Filson and Pendennis Clubs.

Survivors include two sons, John Edward Vinsel of Amherst, N.H., and Kenneth P. Vinsel Jr., a daughter, Barbara Tallman of Dallas; two sisters, Winifred Peak of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Thomas Marshall of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral services were held at the Second Presbyterian Church Chapel in Louisville and burial was at the Cave Hill Cemetery.
