Death of Laura Leech

Miss Laura Leech passed away Sunday afternoon, March 22, at Los Angeles, California. Miss Leech suffered a broken limb last fall and Sunday morning she was taken suddenly ill with a stroke. She died at one o’clock that afternoon. The body is to be brought to Winterset for burial and services will be held Friday at 2:30 o’clock at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home.

Miss Leech was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Leech. She was born in Ohio and came to Winterset with her parents when a small girl. She has been in Colorado for the past thirty-five years and was principal of the Bristol school and then the Columbia schools there for a number of years.

She is survived by her brothers, Al Leech of this city, Chet Leech of Minneapolis, and sisters, Mrs. Harry Trawver of Des Moines and Mrs. Flora Thompson of Oklahoma.

Her parents and brothers, Charles and Ben and one sister, Jess preceded her in death.

LAURA A. LEECH

Miss Laura A. Leech, oldest daughter of Robert L. and Addie Williams Leech, was born in Moorefield, Ohio, November 16, 1865 and passed away March 22, 1931, at San Diego, California. She came to Winterset as a small child. She united with the Presbyterian church when she was a young woman. Miss Leech was a graduate of the Winterset schools and the Minneapolis School of Art and taught for a short time in Winterset. Later she went to Colorado Springs, Colo., and for thirty years was principal of a grade school. The past few years she has been librarian of the West Junior high school in that city. She retired in September 1930, because of ill health and went to San Diego to make her home.

Surviving her are Mrs. Cleve Thompson, Weatherford, Oklahoma, Dr. Chester R. Leech, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Harry E. Trawver, Des Moines and J. A. Leech of Winterset.

Rev. Paul Main Fowler, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, conducted funeral services Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Ramsey-Richards Funeral Home. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
