Page 1Death of Belle Thornburg
Miss Belle Thornburg died at the Winterset hospital, Monday, October 26th, after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Methodist church conducted by Reverend A. P. Keast. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
Miss Thornburg was the daughter of Anna Leinard and Lewis Thornburg. She was born in Winterset June 28, 1865. She has been doing practical nursing for a number of years. A year ago because of ill health she was unable to continue her work. She spent several months with a sister, Mrs. R. C. Boyd, in Nebraska. Upon returning home she became seriously ill and was taken to the Winterset hospital, where she was cared for until her death. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. R. C. Boyd and Mrs. W. D. Cline.

Hester Belle, daughter of Lewis and Anna Christina Thornburg, was born in Winterset, Madison county, Iowa, June 28, 1865. Her entire life was spent in or near her birthplace.
Her early girlhood was spent on a farm with and in caring for her grandparents, Jacob and Hester Leinard. She also lived with and cared for her parents in their later years.
Hester Belle Thornburg was always an active and loyal member of the Methodist Episcopal church and Epworth League. She was especially fond of children. She had charge of the Cradle Roll for about thirty years.
Never was there a more kind, generous and loving sister and friend. No sacrifice was too great for her to make for her relatives and her neighbors.
She had been failing in health for the past few months and passed away at the Winterset hospital at eleven o’clock Monday morning, October 26, 1931, at the age of sixty-six.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Sophia Boyd of Columbus, Nebraska, and Mrs. Lillie Cline, Winterset. She is also survived by many relatives and a host of friends.
