Page 1Death of J. C. Trawver
J. C. Trawver, a former resident of Winterset, died at the home of his son, Claude J. Trawver, at 4217 University Avenue Des Moines Monday afternoon, June 8th, shortly after 4:30 o’clock. Mr. Trawver, who was 81 years of age, had been in poor health for a long time.
The Trawvers lived here, for a number of years, and they resided on a farm west of Winterset. Later they were in the automobile business. J. C. Trawver moved to Des Moines, with his sons in 1917, and he has since resided there.
He leaves two sons, Claude J. Trawver, who is president of the Iowa Auto Market, and Harry Trawver, who is also associated with his brother.
The body was brought to Winterset and the Rev. Paul Main Fowler, pastor of the Presbyterian church conducted his funeral services, Wednesday afternoon, at Ramsey Richards funeral home, at 2:30 o’clock, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. J. C. Trawver
J. C. Trawver was born at Paris, Illinois, June 1, 1850 and passed away at Des Moines, June 8, 1931, at the age of 81 years and seven days. He was united in marriage in 1880 to Sophia Davis and to this union four sons were born.
He moved to Page county, Iowa, in 1899 and after a year there came to Winterset and made his home for 17 years.
Two sons and his wife preceded him in death. Roy, aged 12 was drowned at Clarinda in 1900. Sophia, his wife died at Winterset in 1916 from burns received from a gasoline explosion. Willard his youngest son aged 31 years was killed in an automobile accident in 1927, near Marshalltown.
Since the death of his wife in 1916 he has made his home with his son C. J. Trawver, president of the Iowa Auto Market of Des Moines, at whose home he passed away. For the past year he has been in failing health, but before this time was able to take regular visits to Winterset where he continued his business interests. He was a member of the K. P. Lodge of Winterset and took active interest in the same.
He is survived by two sons, C. J. Trawver and C. E. Trawver and families of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 10th from the Ramsey Richards Funeral home. The Reverend Paul Main Fowler officiating. Interment was in the Winterset cemetery, the Knights of Pythias giving their ritual at the grave.
