Norman R. Hougham was born on September 28, 1937 in Correctionville, Iowa to Russell and Geneva (Lafferty) Hougham. He graduated from Earlham High School in 1955. Upon graduation, Norman enlisted in the US Navy serving from 1955– 1958. On April 10, 1960, Norman and Evelyn Foley were married in Earlham, Iowa. They celebrated 45 years together in April. This union was blessed with one daughter, Jill.
Norman spent over thirty years working in the banking industry. Norman worked at the Earlham Savings Bank, the Capitol City Bank, Brenton Banks, American Federal Savings and Loan and the Resolution Trust Corporation. Norman was a graduate of the Bank Administration Institute and taught classes for several years in the American Institute of Banking. Currently Norman served as Chief Financial Officer for The Harrington Group in Adel.
Norman was a member of the Earlham Church of Christ, the Adel Masons, Lady Washington-Rhinehart Chapter Eastern Star, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and Des Moines Consistory Scottish Rite. Norman was also involved in the Earlham Jaycees, the Earlham Lions Club, Isaac Walton League in Des Moines, and Downtown Des Moines Kiwanis. Norman also enjoyed spending time with family and enjoyed a very special relationship with his granddaughter Kendall, whom he cherished.
Norman is survived by his wife Evelyn of Earlham; daughter Jill and husband Jay Van Woerkom of Pella; granddaughter Kendall Van Woerkom; brother Larry Hougham and wife Carol of Adel; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Norman to the Norman R. Hougham Community Memorial.

Norman Russell Hougham, 67, of Earlham died Sept. 4, 2005. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Sept. 7) at the Earlham Church of Christ with Pastor Steve Allison officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery with military rites performed by Earlham American Legion Post 158.
Norman Hougham was born Sept. 28, 1937, to Russell and Geneva (Lafferty) Hougham of Correctionville and was a 1955 graduate of Earlham High School.
