William G. DeMar, a well-known Winterset resident, died here last Friday at the home of his son, O. E. DeMar. Death followed an illness of long duration. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. DeMar was born in Davis county on May 23, 1864, the son of William and NeVesta Smith DeMar. He was reared in that county, and was married in 1893 to Hattie Fisher. Since then his life had been spent in Madison and Warren counties.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by the son, O. E. DeMar; two daughters, Vivian of Hammond, Ind., and Mrs. Mildred Jones of Cotter, Ia; four grandchildren; a brother, James DeMar of Bloomfield; and three sisters.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Clark cemetery.
