LISLE MULLINS, Elkader

Lisle Robert Mullins, 83, of Elkader, died April 17, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 20, at Penn Center Church in rural Earlham with Pastor Dan Berry officiating. Burial was at Penn Center Cemetery.

Lisle Mullins was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Madison County to Gerald and Hazel (Slavens) Mullins. Lisle farmed in Madison County for 40 years before moving to Texas where he ranched for 10 years. He also had resided in Missouri before moving back to Iowa a short time ago. On Dec. 15, 1989, he was united in marriage to Vera Cornelison Comer at the World of Life Church in rural Winterset.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marvyl Sheriff, and one stepdaughter, Nancy Vogelsmeier.

He is survived by his wife, Vera, of Elkader; one son, Jeff Mullins of Winterset; four daughters, JoAnn Ory of Rocky Comfort, Mo., Charlotte Ward of Madionville, Tenn., Geane Sellers of Oskaloosa, Kan., and Michelle Bakewell of Frisco, Texas; two stepdaughters, Sally Brown of Hubbard and Susan Johnson of Elkader; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
