William Henry Taylor, son of Henry and Hanna Taylor, was born at Earlham December 21, 1867 and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mabel Putney south of Dexter, January 9, 1944 at the age of 76 years and 19 days.

Mr. Taylor lived his entire life in Madison county, Iowa except for the short stay at the home of his daughter, Mabel's home.

His young manhood was spent with his parents and at the age of 36 years in 1902 he was united in marriage to Cenilla E. Bennett of Winterset. To this union seven children were born, five sons and two daughters. Two sons, Arthur John and Glen Orland passed away during the flu epidemic of 1918. His wife also preceded him in death a few years ago.

He leaves to mourn his passing his children: Mary Cook of Morris, Illinois; Mabel Putney of Dexter, who cared for him faithful during his last illness; De Vere of DeKalb, Illinois; Charley of Dexter, and Henry of Earlham; one sister, Mrs. Cozy Ramsey of California, she being the only member of Mr. Taylor's parents family living; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Celinda Menefee of Long Beach, California, two brother-in-laws, Joe Knox of Earlham, and Will Hutchinson of Jolley, Iowa, 14 grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

He was a good, honest, upright man, always ready to lend a hand in time of need. He was the kindest of husbands and fathers and enjoyed his home above all else. His one great sadness was the fact that his failing health would not permit his continuing his active farming or helping his children with their work.

He has been a lifetime member of the Presbyterian church.

Services were held in the Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon conducted by the pastor Rev. S. R. Overholser, assisted by Rev. Bock and Rev. Kessler.

(Burial was in the Earlham cemetery)
