In Loving Remembrance
Died. – Mary Farson was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, July 22, 1835 and died at her home in Truro, Iowa January 22, 1899; aged 63 years and 6 months.
She was married January 1, 1854, to James Henkle. To them were born three children, who preceded their mother to their long home. March 3, 1864, she was married to William Fulton. To them were born four children, two of whom – Mrs. Lizzie Hiatt, of Peru, Iowa, and Mrs. Tizrah Lawrence, of St. Charles, Iowa, - live to mourn the loss of a loving mother. On March 15, 1877, she was married to J. N. Taylor, who survives her.
In early life she united with the church, and her life has ever been one of Christian constancy and grace. Her home life was ever cheerful, kind and patient. She was a model wife and a true mother. While she desired to regain health and remain with her family, she dreaded not the darkness of death’s valley, for she had chosen the “better part” and was ready when called. In the stillness of the early morning hour she gave to Him to keep the soul His great love had redeemed and calmly sank into sleep.
The remains were interred in the Truro cemetery Monday morning, and funeral services were held Tuesday in the M. E. church, Rev. Farley preaching the sermon to a large number of sorrowing relatives and sympathizing friends. The order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a faithful and devoted member, had charge of the services.
A poem follows.
