Ashford Reed Creger was born in Ohio township, Madison county, Iowa, June 20, 1858, and died at the residence of his mother at Truro, Iowa , February 1, 1899; aged 40 years and 7 months.
At twenty years of age he entered the ministry and has been engaged in pastoral work in Iowa, Missouri and Michigan. He left a bequest in favor of Palmer College, LeGrand, Iowa; also his library to the same institution. His insurance policy for $1,000 was made payable to his mother.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Truro, and at his request the sermon was preached by Rev. L. E. Follansbee, of Winterset

Rev. Ashford Reid Creger was born in Ohio township, Madison county, Ia., June 20th, 1858, and died at Truro, Feb. 1st, 1899. He entered the ministry of the Christian church when only 20 years of age and has served as pastor in Iowa, Missouri and Michigan. His disease was catarrhal consumption and he abandoned the church labor last October, returning to the home of his mother, where he died.
He leaves several brothers and sisters, the greater number still residing in this native township.
He left an insurance policy of $1000, drawn in favor of his mother. He also left $100 and his library to the Palmer College, Legrand, Iowa.
His funeral was held at the M. E. church Truro on Thursday afternoon, Rev. L. E. Follansbee of Winterset, conducted the services.
