William Allen Hodson, son of George Hodson and Ann Armstrong Hodson, was born into a family of eight children in Clinton county, Ohio, on September 8, 1866. At the age of nine he moved to Earlham, Iowa, with his parents.

He was united in marriage to Sarah Bridges September 22, 1888. They made their home in and around the Earlham community, where four sons were born to them Fred, Harold, Carl and Clifford. The year of 1916 they moved to Reynolds, North Dakota, where his wife, Sarah, passed away on August 22, 1933. In 1935 he moved back to Earlham, with his son, Clifford, until the fall of 1942 when he made his home with his son, Harold at Adel, Iowa, until his death.

He was taken ill suddenly on September 28 and passed away on October 3, 1945 at the age of 79 years and 25 days.

Besides his four sons, Fred of Earlham; Harold of Adel; Carl of Monticello; and Clifford of Des Moines, he leaves one brother, Clarence of Leland, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Barnett and Mrs. Dora Sandham, of Spokane, Washington, fourteen grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Wm. Hodson Died Wednesday Evening at Perry

William Hodson, 79, died at the Perry hospital Wednesday evening. He had taken sick Friday.

Funeral services will be held at the Earlham Methodist church Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Earlham cemetery.

For the past several years he has made his home with his son, Harold at Adel. His other children are Fred of Earlham, Carl of Anamosa, and Clifford of West Des Moines.
