G. E. VIERLING - Former Resident Dies in Des Moines

G. E. Vierling, who was born in Winterset but had lived in Des Moines for 40 years, died there Sunday while enroute to the Broadlawns hospital. He was 78 years of age. Death was due to an asthmatic heart condition.

Before retiring, Mr. Vierling had served as a chef at Hotel Fort Des Moines for 12 years. He had also been associated with the Forty and Eight club and the College restaurant.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Irma Fitzgerald and Mrs. Vera Ostrander of Des Moines, a son, Bruce, also of Des Moines, and a brother, Ernest, of Winterset.

Funeral services were held in Des Moines Tuesday and burial was made in the Glendale cemetery there.
