Thursday, February 17, 1944Dorothy Phillips Snyder, daughter of John Cleveland Phillips and Daisy M. Phillips, was born October 28, 1911 at Booneville, Iowa, and passed away in the Methodist hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, on February 11, 1944 at the age of 32 years, three months, and 13 days. Her father died in 1915 and the family moved to Indiana and in 1920 returned to Earlham, where Dorothy grew to womanhood. She attended the Earlham high school and united with the Friends church of Earlham. As long as she remained in Earlham she regularly attended Sunday School and church activities.
On August 7, 1930 she united in marriage to Floyd Emehiser who preceded her in death. To this union two sons were born: Floyd, Jr. and John.
On April 18, 1942 she was married to Carl Q. Snyder of Adel. She retained her membership in the Friends church of Earlham, and recently joined the American Legion Auxiliary of Adel.
Besides her husband and sons, she leaves her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Bechtel of Des Moines, one brother, James Phillips of Des Moines, one sister, Mrs. Kathryn Kees of Chicago, Illinois, two step-sisters, Mrs. Nelson Woods of Colo, Iowa, and Mrs. Verne Carlson of Kelly, Iowa, one step-brother, Victor Bechtel in the U.S. Army overseas, a grandmother, Mrs. Emma Sickles, Monticello, Indiana, and many other relatives.
