Thursday, March 8, 1945Harry M. Rausenberger, a veteran Madison county farmer died at his home in Earlham, Monday noon after a weeks illness. He was 74 years old.
Mr. Rausenberger lived most of his life in Penn township. He was born August 21, 1870 in Louisia county and came to Penn township as a young man.
In 1918 he and his wife moved to Louisia county and lived there until 1926 when they moved to Fairfield, later to Cedar Falls and in 1933 they moved back to Penn township, retiring to Earlham several years ago.
He is survived by his wife; and son Franz B. Rausenberger of Finchford.
Funeral services were held at the Earlham Methodist church Thursday afternoon. Rev. S. R. Overholser and Rev. Arthur Henry conducted the services. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery. A complete obituary will appear next week.

Thursday, March 15, 1945Harry M. Rausenberger, third child of John and Katherine Moore Rausenberger, was born on a farm near Columbus City, in Louisa county, Iowa, August 21, 1870. When he was about fourteen years old his parents moved to Bayard, Iowa, later settling on a farm south of Earlham, in Madison county. Harry attended elementary school at Columbus City and high school and a Normal school in Bayard, later teaching in Louisa county and in Bayard.
On October 9, 1901, he was married in Des Moines, to Miss Katherine L. Schlarb, of the Penn Center neighborhood. One son, Franz B. Rausenberger blest this union.
In youth he was affiliated with the United Presbyterian and the Presbyterian church but after marriage he joined and served on boards of the Penn Center church. After moving to Earlham, he, with Mrs. Rausenberger was active in the local Methodist church. He was also an honored member of the Mason and Eastern Star Orders.
During the winter, Mr. and Mrs. Rausenberger spent six weeks with their son, Franz and family, where Franz is superintendent of the Finchford Consolidated Schools, near Cedar Falls, Iowa. He had been home but a short time when he was stricken with a heart attack to which he succumbed in his home, after a week’s illness, on Monday morning, March 5, 1945, at the age of 74 years, six months and 13 days.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine; his son, Franz and wife, Gretchen; two grandsons, Richard and Robert and one sister, Mrs. Cora Darby, of Webb City, Missouri. His parents, one brother, William, and one sister, Judith Phillips, preceded him from this life.
True to his convictions, diligent in duty, thrifty, and pursuing only the higher aims in life, Harry M. Rausenberger will be remembered as an exemplary citizen, an understanding, thoughtful husband and father, and helpful friend and neighbor.
Of him it may truly be said that, as it was “Goodby here” to his family and friends and “Good Morning Up There.”
He will be great in the sight of God for paths of usefulness he has trod.
Services were held in the Methodist church Thursday afternoon, March 8, Rev. S. R. Overholser in charge. Interment was in Earlham cemetery.

L. Mendenhall of Cedar Falls; and Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Wetrich of Collins, Iowa; and Harlan Henry of Des Moines.
