Earlham Echo - Thursday, December 13, 1945

Tom Irvin died at the Veterans' hospital in Des Moines, last Friday after a short illness. After returning to Earlham several years ago he had been engaged in painting and paper hanging work.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. Peter Bock was in charge. The American Legion, of which he was a member, had a firing squad and other members acted as pallbearers. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

OBITUARY

Thomas H. Irvin was born at Adel, Iowa, January 4, 1874 and passed away at the Veterans' hospital, Des Moines, December 7, 1945.

When a small boy he was baptized in the Christian church at Adel. He received his early education in the Adel and Earlham public schools.

He attended medical school in Iowa City during the years 1895 and 1896. On May 9, 1903, he was united in marriage to Anna A. Myers at Cheyenne, Wyoming. He and his wife returned to Iowa at the beginning of the first world war where he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Anna, two brothers and two sisters: C. T. Irvin of Earlham; Mrs. H. E. McNutt of Des Moines; J. F. Irvin of Los Angeles, and Mrs. H. B. Bowlby of North Yakima, Washington, besides numerous nieces and nephews.
