Mildred Jane Hogendorn, 86, died April 29, 2005, at Winterset Care Center South.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 3, at St. Charles Cemetery with Pastor Larry Low officiating.
Jane Hogendorn was born July 26, 1918 to Millard Fillmore and Minnie (Hook) Stookey of Lake City. She was a graduate of North High School in Des Moines. On Dec. 26, 1943, she married Harold Hogendorn. They resided in Des Moines, Stuart and Urbandale before moving to St. Charles.
In the 1960s Jane was a legal secretary for many years. She also operated a restaurant in St. Charles, worked at an abstract company in Des Moines and Indianola and most recently, worked for the city of St. Charles. She was a member of the North High School Alumni Association and St. Charles United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Ayers of St. Charles; one son, Ronald Ostling of Kansas City; a sister, Lorna Donelson of Sicklerville, N.J.; and three grandchildren, including Keith Ostling of Truro, who Mildred and Harold raised from infancy, and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.
