Wednesday, October 2, 1968MRS. CARRIE HISKEY OF WINTERSET DIES
Mrs. Carrie E. Hiskey of Winterset died Saturday, Sept. 28, at Memorial hospital here. She was 82 years of age.
Mrs. Hiskey was born near Barney Aug. 24, 1896, and was a member of the Barney Christian church. She was the former Carrie Palmer, daughter of Ruel and Keziah Smith Palmer. She was married to Lewis E. Hiskey on Oct. 12, 1908 at Winterset. The last 50 years of her life were lived in Madison county.
Surviving are six children: Mrs. Lula Johnson of Murray, Clifford Hiskey of St. Charles, Mrs. Leota Houston of Peru, Mrs. Mildred Rakes of Camdenton, Mo., Mrs. Lena Peterson of Winterset, and Maynard Hiskey of West Des Moines. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Sallie Osborn of Winterset and Mrs. Flora Chapman of Sioux City.
Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Lorimor Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. R. C. Priebe of Dennison. Burial was made in the Barney cemetery.
