Lester V. Powell, long-time resident of this community, died last Thursday at the age of 60 years. He had been in failing health the past eight years.

Mr. Powell was born in Madison township on July 26, 1883. He was married December 29, 1909, to Arta A. Hillis. They were the parents of two children.

He had united with the Methodist church as a young man, later transferring to the Friends church at Indianola, of which he was a member at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Lyle R. Powell of Douglas township; a daughter, Ethyle E. Powell of Des Moines; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Flora Hills, and Mrs. Beulah Hibbs of Winterset, Mrs. Ada Neff of Pomona, California; and a brother, B. C. Powell of Orland, California.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. and Mrs. Melvin Hansen of the Fourquare church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR L. V. POWELL

L. V. Powell, 60, died Thursday, March 2, following an illness of eight years. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 26, at the Ramsey–Richards Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Hansen in charge. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Lester Vernon Paul was born in Madison township, Madison county on July 26, 1883. When a young man he united with the Methodist church and in later years became a member of the Friends church in Indianola, of which he was a member at the time of his death.

On December 29, 1909, he was married to Arta A. Hillis, and to this union were born to children.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Lyle R. Powell of Douglas township, one daughter Ethyle E. Powell of Des Moines, and to grandchildren. He also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Flora Hills and Mrs. Beulah Hibbs of Winterset, Mrs. Ada Brown of Fonda, Mrs. Blanche Neff of Pomona, California, and one brother, B. C. Powell of Orland, California.
