L. R. HIRCOCK DIED SUNDAY

Life-Long Resident Here Was Veteran of First World War

Lannie R. Hircock, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Sunday, Jan. 11 at Veteran's hospital in Des Moines. He wa 64 years of age.

Mr. Hircock was born in Madison county April 27, 1894, a son of William F. and Mary E. Hircock. He was married Feb. 16, 1916, to Lois E. Clark. They engaged in farming until 1942, when they moved to Winterset. He continued active in farm management and some actual farming up to his death.

During World War I he served in the armed forces for 15 months.

He had been a member of the Winterset Christian church since the age of 17 years. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the D.A.V., and the Madison county Sportsman's club.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Carl L. Hircock and Roger N. Hircock; a daughter, Mrs. Esther M. Rogers; six grandsons; one granddaughter; and a sister, Miss Elsie Hircock all of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. R. A. Owens, pastor of the Winterset Christian church assisted by the Rev. Richard Mohr, pastor of Grace Baptist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
