LESTER WALKER Of ZION Found Dead

R. Lester Walker of near Zion, was found dead in his automobile Sunday, Dec. 6, in a field on his farm in that community. He apparently had become ill while in the field. Marks in the snow indicated the car had become stuck, and he had tried to free it. He apparently became ill from the exertion, and lay down in the front seat of the car where he died.

Mr. Walker was 75 years of age. He was born at Truro Jan. 30, 1889, a son of William R. and Viola Barker Walker. He was married at Winterset Jan. 11, 1920, to Mayme Belle Wilson. He had lived in the Zion community, and had been semi-retired in recent years.

Mr. Walker served in the U. S. army during World War I. He was a member of the Hebron Methodist church, the Orient American Legion post, and the I.O.O.F. lodge at Macksburg.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Dale Gibson of Indianola and Mrs. Harold Miller of Creston; and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Penick of Chugwater, Wyo. One son preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Hill of Zion United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Donald Frank and the Rev. George Fairbanks officiating. Burial was made at Moon cemetery at Macksburg, with military honors by the Orient post of the American Legion.
