Wednesday, November 29, 1944Mrs. Jacob Myers, one of the oldest residents of Madison county, died on Wednesday of last week at the age of 89 years. She had been in failing health for many months.
Mrs. Myers was the former Candace Fee, daughter of Hannah and William Fee, and was born in Madison county on April 28, 1855.
She was married Jan. 1, 1874, to Jacob Myers, who preceded her in death. They were the parents of seven children, five of whom survive.
Most of her life was spent on a farm in the Fairview neighborhood. Since 1907 she had made her home in Winterset.
She was a member of the Methodist church at Fairview, and of the Church of Christ after moving to Winterset. She was also affiliated with the Women's Relief corps.
She is survived by the five children, Charlie Myers of Ambrose, N. Dak., Roy L. Myers of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Mabel Oldham of Earlham, Carl Myers of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Gladys Garrett of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Sunday from Anderson's Funeral home in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
