Samuel R. Osborn, member of a family well known in Madison county, died Sunday at Detroit, Mich., where he had been living since 1937. He was 64 years of age, and had been in failing health for several years.
Mr. Osborn was born in Madison county, July 27, 1881, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Osborn. He was married in 1902 to Flora Werner. They were the parents of six children, Harold and Anna of Los Angeles, Calif., Kenton of Winterset, Lucian of Sandwich, Ill., Irvin of Winterset, and Paul of Hollywood, Calif. The first wife preceded him in death many years ago.
He was married a second time, to Retta Hooker, in 1918. They were the parents of two daughters, Hazel and Norma. The second wife also preceded him in death.
In addition to his children, he is survived by a stepson; 17 grandchildren; six brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services were held this Wednesday from the Methodist church in Shannon City, where the family lived for a number of years, and burial was made in the cemetery there.
