Page 1Death of Mrs. L. H. Krell
Relatives here received word Monday of the death of Mrs. Lewis H. Krell of Des Moines. Mrs. Krell has been in poor health for some time. Funeral services were held at the Four Square Gospel church in Des Moines Wednesday afternoon, July 29th, at 2 o’clock. Mrs. Krell was the wife of Lewis H. Krell, brother of John and W. D. Krell of Winterset. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
She was 45 years of age, and was a former resident of this county. She is survived by her husband. More details will be given in next week’s Madisonian.

Page 1Burial Services Here for Mrs. Lew Krell
A number of Winterset people drove to Des Moines last Wednesday afternoon, July 29th to attend the funeral services of Mrs. Lew Krell, which were held at the Four Square Gospel church, at 2 o’clock. Those driving from here were Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Krell and son Orville, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Krell, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Krell, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Brock, and Lloyd Wilkinson and son Billie, Mr. Krell, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Lawrence and daughter Miss Nell, Mr. and Mrs. Ray D. Lawrence, Rev. J. R. Richey and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Sale of Des Moines and Walter McPherson and family of Omaha accompanied the body to Winterset, Wednesday afternoon, and burial was made at the Winterset cemetery, at 4:30 o’clock. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Shearer of Peru, also drove over for the burial services.
An account of Mrs. Krell’s life is as follows:
Velva Pearle Lawrence, born near Truro, Iowa, March 26, 1886 and passed away at Des Moines, Iowa, on July 26, 1931, aged 45 years, 4 months.
She joined the M. E. church in Winterset in 1911 having moved there that year. She was married to L. H. Krell October 21, 1914 and moved to Des Moines the same year. She transferred her membership to the First M. E. church in Des Moines in 1915. Superintendent of Junior department in First M. E. church for eleven years and was highly praised by Professor Athern of Boston university for hand work and memory programs. She wrote some very good pageants.
She represented Junior department at World’s Sunday school convention in Kansas City in 1922.
Mr. and Mrs. Krell transferred their membership to Four Square Gospel Lighthouse two years ago where she was superintendent of the Junior department. Services were held at the Four Square church July 29th, in Des Moines.
Burial was in the Winterset cemetery. Mrs. Krell is survived by her husband, parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Lawrence, a sister, Nelle Lawrence and brother, Roy D. Lawrence.
