W. Vern Clark of Winterset, a retired Douglas township farmer, died Tuesday, March 16, 1970, at Memorial hospital here. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. Clark was a long-time resident of Madison county. He was born here Jan. 1, 1893, a son of William and Mary Smith Clark. After a life-time spent in farming, he retired in 1964 and moved to Winterset.
He was a former member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Winterset.
Mr. Clark was married Sept. 14, 1913 to Alice Vaughn, who survives him. They observed their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1963.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Cecil Clark of Winterset and Raymond Clark of Booneville. He also leaves eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a brother Harvey Clark, and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Koehler and Mrs. Gladys McDonald, both of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. E. E. Jandebeur, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Chase-McDonald cemetery.
