California Rites for Robert Farlin

Robert Lewis Farlin of California, formerly of Winterset and Lorimor, died August 18 at the age of 53. Funeral services were held August 21 in California with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sebastopol, Calif.

Born on March 10, 1926 in Winterset he was the son of Clarke and Sarah Farlin. He farmed with his father near Lorimor until his graduation from high school in 1943. He then worked for the Burlington Railroad at Creston before serving in Europe with the Army during World War II.

Mr. Farlin married Birdie Chaney of Creston on December 4, 1946. He worked at Davis Garage in Creston before moving to California in 1963, where he was working for Wayne Cross Ford Garage in San Rafael at the time of his death.

Surviving are his wife Birdie; five children, Cathy Berton of Creston; Saundra Hansen of Petaluma, Calif., Virginia Nelsen and Robert Lewis II, both of Camp Meeker, Calif., and Timi Andrus of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a sister, Leona Gardner of Des Moines; two brothers Ken and Dale both of Lorimor; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
