Orville Wallace Henry of rural Madison County died Wednesday, December 26, at Des Moines General Hospital at the age of 71. Mr. Henry farmed northwest of Winterset on his century-old farmstead since 1925.
Born on August 17, 1908 in Madison County, he was the son of Benjamin Henry and Mary May Clark. On September 10, 1926 he was united in marriage to Ethel Johnson. Mr. Henry was a member of Early Chapel Church where he served as a church trustee, the Earlham Independent Order of Odd Fellows for 36 years, the Earlham and Winterset Encampment and many conservation and farm organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel; four children, Ruth Starch of Des Moines, Goldie Nicholson of Winterset, Earl Henry and Donald Henry, both of Winterset; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Harold Henry of Davenport; and a half-brother, Dwayne of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandmother, an aunt and uncle who raised him and a brother, Edwin.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 29, at Early Chapel Christian Church with Rev. David Livingston officiating. Graveside memorial services were performed by the Earlham and Winterset Odd Fellows Lodges.

Orville Wallace Henry, the son of Benjamin and Mary Clark Henry, was born August 17, 1908 in Madison County, Iowa. He passed away December 26, 1979 at Des Moines General Hospital after an illness of several months.
Orville grew up in Madison county and as a young man attended school in Winterset.
On September 10, 1926 in Osceola, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Ethel Johnson. Orville and Ethel spend all their married life together farming in Madison County. Four children blessed their marriage.
Orville was a member of the Early Chapel Church and the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Winterset.
Survivors include his beloved wife Ethel; two sons, Earl and Don of Winterset; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Storck of Des Moines and Mrs. Goldie Nicholson of Winterset; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; one brother, Harold of Davenport, Iowa, and one half brother, Dwayne Henry of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edwin, who was killed in World War II.
Services were held December 29, 1979 at 1:30 p.m. at the Early Chapel Christian Church. Interment was at the Winterset Cemetery with graveside services by Madison Lodge No. 136 I.O.O.F.
