HELEN L. WALLACE, Des Moines

Helen L. Wallace, 91, of Des Moines died of heart failure Dec. 9, 2000, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at West Des Moines United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russ May officiating. Burial was at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Helen Wallace was born Nov. 24, 1909, to Samuel and Irene (Evans) Mitton of Earlham. Her marriage to Forrest McCune Wallace took place Sept. 6, 1931, at the United Methodist Church in Des Moines. They resided in Decatur County where they farmed for approximately 21 years. In 1953, they moved to Des Moines. Helen had been employed as a receptionist for Wallace Homestead Printing Company for 20 years. Following her retirement, she worked as a receptionist at Calvin Manor for 12 years. She also was an active volunteer at her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
