MRS. W. H. MAXWELL Of Winterset Dies

Mrs. William H. Maxwell, well known Winterset resident for many years, died here Sunday of a heart attack. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Maxwell was found in her car, just after having driven it into the garage at her home. She had been visiting friends Sunday afternoon, and left for home after complaining of not feeling well. She was found almost immediately after her death.

Plans for funeral services were delayed this week, through inability of relatives to contact Mr. Maxwell, who was enroute home from a vacation trip to Florida, when the death occurred. Mr. Maxwell was contacted this Wednesday morning at St. Louis, Mo., and is arriving home this afternoon.

Mrs. Maxwell was a life-long resident of Madison County. She was the former Lily Hamilton, daughter of John and Lydia Freeman Hamilton, and was born Feb. 17, 1874. As a young woman she taught school in this community, and later was employed as a clerk in Winterset stores.

She was married to William H. Maxwell Feb. 12, 1902. All their married life was spent in or near Winterset.

She was a member of the Winterset church of Christ; and of the local chapter of the W.C.T.U.

In addition to her husband, her near surviving relatives include a sister, Mrs. Will Tilton of Lorimor; a nephew, Clifton Hamilton of Lebabon, Mo., and two nieces, Mrs. Charles Taylor of Winterset and Mrs. Beatrice Edwards of Lorimor.

Funeral service plans had not been completed as the Madisonian went to press.
