Elma Rowen Henry, 98, Des Moines, died of a heart ailment at home last Wednesday. Graveside services were held Saturday Nov. 21 at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Mrs. Henry was born in Dixon, Ill., and had lived in Des Moines 70 years. She was a retired practical nurse and had been a member of East Side Church of Christ, Urbandale Garden Club and Urbandale PTA.

Survivors include a son, Charles Rowen of Statesville, N.C., two daughters, Elizabeth Anderson of Bentonville,Ark. and Margaret Avaux of Urbandale; nine grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren and 30 great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Henry was the last surviving child of Harry E. and Della Keel Shifflett, formerly of Earlham and Tingley. Her brothers and sisters were Scott and Grant Shifflett and Pearl Lee. She was first married to George Rowen, who died in 1941, and later to Charles Henry, formerly of Earlham and Winterset. Mr. Rowen was at one time employed by the Earlham Echo and his father who was then the Echo editor.
