Dolores Henderson, Hawkeye

Dolores Fern Henderson, 67, of Hawkeye died Dec. 20, 2002, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 23, at the United Methodist Church in Hawkeye with the Rev. Roger White officiating. Burial was at Alpha Cemetery.

Dolores Henderson was born Aug. 2, 1935, to Verlyn and Fern (Bond) Kerns of Macksburg. She was a 1953 graduate of Macksburg High School. On Nov. 15, 1954, she married Harold Henderson in Bethany, Mo. The couple farmed in the Hawkeye and Alpha areas for many years. Dolores was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hawkeye.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Dennis and James; and three brothers, Jim, Gerald and Russell.

She is survived by a son, Duane Henderson of Missouri; six daughters, Debbie Henderson of Maynard, Kerry Kisling of Van Meter, Kristi Henderson of Mitchell, Lori Gossling of Calmar, Kimi Henderson of Hawkeye and Vickie Wendel of Oelwein; two brothers, Merle Kerns and Ron Kerns, both of Winterset; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
