T. J. Rhyno or Jeff Rhyno, as he was best known, died at his home in South township on last Thursday. Announcement of his death will be a profound shock to many of his friends as his illness has not been widely announced, and was not considered serious until about two weeks before his death.

Mr. Rhyno, who was named after his father, Thomas Jefferson Rhyno, was born in 1861 on the old Rhyno homestead, where he died, being one of the pioneer citizens of that community.

He is survived by Mrs. Rhyno and one son, Ivil, who is now in the military service of his country at Camp Dodge.

Funeral services were held at Peru on Saturday, the burial rites being under the auspices of the Masonic order. An unusually large concourse of people attested the high esteem in which the deceased was held by the people of that community.

THOMAS JEFFERSON RHYNO

Thomas Jefferson Rhyno, son of Thomas Jefferson and Sarah Rhyno, was born on the Jeff Rhyno farm, near Peru, Madison county, Iowa, on Aug. 26, 1861 and died on the same farm, June 12, 1918, at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 16 days.

He was married to Millie L. Beem March 15, 1888. To this union one child was born, a son, Ivil L., who has always lived with his parents. He became a Mason and was a member of Hazel lodge at East Peru. He spent nearly all of his life on the farm on which he was born.

He was well known, and his congenial disposition got him many friends. He was an affectionate husband, a tender loving father and a friend to all who knew him. His health began to fail about a year ago and in February he began to grow worse, but in spite of all that medical skill and loving care could do, he gradually grew worse. He leaves a wife, a son and a large number of other relatives and friends, who will miss him.

Funeral services were held from the Peru M. E. church on Saturday, June 15th at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. C. K. Corkill, assisted by Rev. G. W. Wood and the Masonic lodge, after which he was laid to rest in the Peru cemetery.
