Albert Hiram Heath, Winterset

Albert Hiram Heath, 75, the son of John Hiram and Ethlyn Belle Donham Heath, was born at Nichols, Iowa on Nov. 20, and he died at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on Dec. 5, following a heart attack.

He was married to Ferne Arlene Tague in Guthrie County on March 12, 1939. She died June 30, 1945 at Rochester, Minn. Two children were born to them; Betty Lou and Robert Eugene. Albert remarried at Gowrie on Nov. 20, 1948 to Manera Opal Robinett Austin.

He had lived in several places before moving to the Thayer community in 1958. He lived there until 1976, when he moved to Winterset.

He had been a farmer all of his life, but had also worked at a shoe factory in Missouri in the 1950s and for the Sturbhar Oil Company for several years while living at Thayer. He enjoyed working with wood and made many nick-nacks and furniture items.

He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset.

He is survived by his wife, Manera; his children, Mrs. Dean (Betty Lou) Johnston of Creston, Mrs. Earl (Carol) Johnson of Woodland Park, Colo., Robert of Cedar Rapids and Steven of Whitesboro, Texas; sisters, Mrs. Jack (Margaret) Light of Manchester, Iowa and Mrs. Clarence (Frances) Reece of Olympis, Wash.; seven grandchildren; Mrs. Brian (Vivian) Schwab, Karyn and Faith Johnston, Jeff and Dawn Jeler and Robert and Daniel Heath; and a great-granddaughter, Laura Schwab.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ferne and a twin brother, Alfred David Heath.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset with Pastor Gary Worsham officiating. Burial was in the Lorimor Cemetery.
