John Headrick, St. Charles

John Henry Headrick, 87, of St. Charles died July 20, 2004, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 23, at St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Darold Snow officiating. Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery.

John Headrick was born July 8, 1917, to Clarence H. and Mamie (Sherick) Headrick of rural St. Marys. He was a graduate of St. Marys High School. On March 16, 1937, he was united in marriage to Maxine Black in Des Moines. A retired farmer, John also was a member of the St. Charles Parish Church, St. Charles Lions Club and Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Orlin and four sisters, Ethel LaPella, Ruby Beltz, Alice Woodword and Blanche Goss.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of St. Charles; two daughters, Janet Miller of Des Moines and Joyce Smull of Lakeland, Fla.; one son, Gary Headrick of Libery, Mo.; a sister, Annabelle Jones of Indianola; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Charles Parish Church or Jackson Township Rescue Squad.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.
