Aubrey Gene "Bama" Swinford died Thursday at the Kavanagh House. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 21 at Indianola Heights Evangelical Free Church.

Bama enjoyed playing golf at the Indianola Country Club, of which he was a member, following the Georgia Bulldogs football program, where he played during college, and spending time with his large and loving family. Bama was also a member of the IBEW # 347.

He will be missed by his wife, Marsha; sons, Brian and David of Athens, Georgia; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Ryan) St. John of Des Moines; granddaughter, Hannah St. John of Des Moines; his mother, Belle Swinford of Mumford, Alabama; sister, Lynda (Leon) Cogburn of Texas City, Texas; brothers, Cecil (Sharon) Swinford of Fallbrook, California, Gerald (Pat) Swinford of Lincoln, Alabama, Wayne (Susan) Swinford of Athens, Georgia, and Lynn (Sandra) Swinford of Mumford, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, James Aubrey Swinford and a sister Anita Gurley.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 20 at Brooks Funeral Care-Tonini Chapel. Memorials may be made to Kavanagh House on 56th St. or to the family to be designated in the future.
