ROY L. HATFIELD OF CRESTON DIES

Roy L. Hatfield, former resident of the Macksburg community died last Friday, Aug. 9, at Memorial hospital in Greenfield. He was 66 years of age.

Mr. Hatfield was born at LaPorte, Ind., on Oct. 5, 1896, a son of Elmer and Estella Hatfield. When he was three years old his parents moved to a farm near Macksburg, where his early life was spent.

He was married at Macksburg March 2, 1918 to Goldie Bates. He entered the U.S. army in September of that year. After serving his enlistment, he and his wife settled on a farm in Dodge township of Union county, where they lived until 1961, when they retired and moved to Creston.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Goldie Hatfield of Creston; a son, Russell Hatfield of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Lyle Harrison of Afton; six grandchildren; five brothers, Earl Hatfield of Norwalk, Glen Hatfield of St. Charles, Harold Hatfield of Macksburg and Lloyd Hatfield of Van Nuys, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Collins of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Sherm Williams of Stuart.
