Funeral services were conducted last Saturday, January 8 for Goldie E. Hatfield, 80, who died Thursday, January 6, 1977, at Crestview Acres Retirement Home in West Des Moines.
Officiating at the services from First United Methodist Church of Creston was Rev. James Morris, the pastor and Rev. K. Wayne Hoehns of Afton United Methodist Church. Burial was made at the Moon Cemetery, Macksburg.
Mrs. Hatfield was born February 2, 1896, in Macksburg, the daughter of Frank and Sophronia Eivins Bates. Her marriage to Roy Hatfield took place in 1918 at Macksburg. He preceded her in death in August 1963.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Carol) Harrison; daughter-in-law, Sunny Hatfield Brennan; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Edith Delaplain of Menlo and one brother, Roland Bates of Macksburg.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Mrs. Hatfield was a resident of the Lorimor area until 1961, when she and her husband moved to Creston. She was a former school teacher and a member of the First United Methodist of Creston.
