Frank L. Hatfield, 92, of Winterset died September 18, 2000 of heart failure at IHS in Winterset. Funeral services were September 21 at the Macksburg United Methodist Church. Pastor Neil Platon officiated the services and burial followed in the Moon Cemetery in Madison County. Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset.
He was born September 15, 1908 in rural Madison County to Elmer and Estella (Ellison) Hatfield. He married Velma M. Wallace on December 17, 1932 in Papillion, Nebraska. He was a farmer and a member of Farm Bureau and the Winterset and Macksburg Coop. He served on the Macksburg school board and was a 50-year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Macksburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, five brothers and three sisters.
Surviving relatives include two sons Dennis Hatfield and wife Joyce of Davenport and Dale Hatfield and wife Mary of Dexter; one daughter-in-law Louise Hatfield of Lakewood, Colorado; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to the Macksburg United Methodist Church or Middle River Hospice in Winterset.
