MRS. GLEN HATFIELD DIED LAST THURSDAY

Mrs. Fern Hatfield of St. Charles died last Thursday, Aug. 10 at Des Moines General hospital. She was 68 years of age.

A daughter of Gillette and LaVisa Sells Harpole, she was born in Madison county on Sept. 10, 1898. She was married to Glen Hatfield on June 15, 1920.

She spent all of her life in Madison county, except for nine years in Colorado.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Maurice W. of Brunswick, Georgia; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Wetzel of St. Charles and Audrey Platnick of New York City, N.Y.; six grandchildren; three brothers, Francis Harpole of Colfax, Ill., Eugene Harpole of Kelsyville, Calif., and Charles Harpole of Tabonia, Utah.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hatfield were held Monday afternoon, Aug. 14 from the Kale Funeral Home in Truro. The Rev. James Nicholson officiated. Burial was in Pleasantview cemetery.

Dexter Graduate Dies at St. Charles

DEXTER: Fern Hatfield of St. Charles, formerly Fern Harpole of Dexter, died Aug. 10 at the age of 68. Former classmates who graduated with her in 1917 attended her services were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shaw, Stuart; Mrs. Hazel McCleary, Adel and Mrs. Isabel Bast and Mrs. Josephine Hammond of Dexter.

She spent all her life in Madison county, except nine years in Colorato. She is survived by her husband, Glen, and three children.
