Mildred Harvey, Ames

Mildred Harvey, 85, of Ames died of complications of a stroke on Oct. 14, 1995, at Grand Avenue Care Center in Ames. Services were held Oct. 18, 1995 at the Adams Funeral Home in Ames with the Rev. Fr. Alexander A. Alton, Jr. officiating. Burial was at Whiting, Iowa.

She was born on March 8, 1910, in Whiting to Edith (Cassidy) and Ralph McBeath. She married Ralph Harvey on Nov. 10, 1933 in Ames. She was a former Winterset resident and owner/designer of Mildred Harvey Interiors in Winterset from 1955-1976. She retired in 1976 and moved to Ames. She was a member of the St. Francis Episcopal Church, Arkansas; Gamma Phi Beta; Omicron Nu; and the American Society of Interior Designers. She received a 37 year award, A.S.I.S., Nebraska-Iowa Chapter and Cornerstone Award, A.S.I.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Surviving relatives include a son Robert of Ames; a sister Winifred Jones of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a brother Wilson McBeath of Akron, Ohio; and two granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Interior Design Excellence Fund, c/o Iowa State University Foundation or the American Heart Association.
