Byron Neff Jones, son of Chester and Cora Neff Jones was born July 20, 1905 near Earlham. His younger years were spent in this community where he became a member of the Early Chapel Christian church.

After serving 33 months as signal man in the Navy in World War II, Byron then made his home in Boone where he has resided the past 27 years. He passed away September 13th in Boone at the age of 68 years.

He is survived by his sister Helen, of Boone, four aunts, Mrs. John Jones of Woodward, Mrs. Joseph Jones of Des Moines, Mrs. Roy Neff of Glendale, California and Mrs. Byron Neff of Brookville, Florida, and numerous cousins.

Following cremation, graveside committal services were held Wednesday, September 26, at the Penn Center cemetery with Rev. Richard Goins of Boone in charge.

Those attending outside the Earlham area were Mr. and Mrs. Wendell McLaughlin, Mrs. Virginia Neff Chase, Mrs. Joe Jones, Miss Mildred Jones, Miss Nadine Machisney, Mrs. Dan Lamb, Mrs. J. Farr Halliday, all of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schueler of Van Horne; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Carlson of Madrid; Mrs. Bertha Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jones of Woodward; Ernest Henson of Bouton; Mr. and Mrs. Omer Payne of Panora; Mrs. Mabel Piatt, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lenocker of Dexter; Claire Leeper and Ronald Leeper of Winterset.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dennis, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sandell, Rev. and Mrs. Richard Goins, Mrs. Paul Koppenhaver, Mrs. Beulah Corl, Mrs. William Nash, Mrs. Allen Kirkman, Miss Winifred Brillhart and Helen Jones, all from Boone.
